Earthquake!

OMG, I used a gas stove all by myself for the first time ever and I didn't burn myself OR burn the house down! Yaaaay! *is ridiculously proud of herself* Nowww... I did burn the fingers on my left hand by carrying the hot bowl too far, but it's not bad and I didn't burn myself with the stove! *dances*

This morning found me crying on James' shoulder after being approached by Domestic Scientist and informed that she'll take action against me if I sell any more of the Guitar Hero scarves that I designed. She was very polite about it, but it was still a blow.

*sigh*

It's not worth fighting. I understand why she'd think I stole her idea; our finished products are remarkably similar. I responded and let her know that while I understand her point of view and I won't sell any more of the scarves, I didn't steal her idea or her design.

Yeah. Eh. I guess it's been so hard to take because I worked REALLY hard on it, figuring out how to get it to look as close to the game version as possible.

I'm looking for opinions, here, seriously. I keep going back and forth between wanting to cut my hair short again, and wanting to just keep it long. Please don't reply with JUST "you look good with both"... I dunno, I'm looking for solid opinions. I don't feel particularly interesting, anymore, sometimes, when I see photos of myself. I'm like "God, when did I get so boring??"

I posted photos of me "modeling" the guitar hero scarf, today, in selfportraits, because I was really proud of how it turned out. One person commented rather negatively, asking "how is it a custom order" if I "just ripped off" someone called Domestic Scientist.

I was hurt and insulted that they'd suggest that I'd steal someone's idea. I mean, wtf? It wasn't my idea in the first place, I admit; the person who ordered it asked me if I could do it and I went with the idea and did it the way that I thought would be best, figuring everything out along the way. I mean, I had to re-do the black part of the scarf because stockinette just curls like a bitch, and it took me like three days to make all the dots, which left my fingers red and nearly raw from sewing in the black circles around the middle, and then again from sewing the dots onto the scarf.

I suppose that after all the work I put into it I was hurt that someone would simply be like "well, someone's done this before, so you're just a thief." Uuuh... I'm sure I'm not the only one who has done it since (or even before, for all I know) that "Domestic Scientist" person did it.

Eh.

This is a custom guitar hero scarf, featuring notes from the song "Hotel California."

It was knitted and crocheted with 100% acrylic yarn.

I feel good. It's been hot the past few days, but there isn't much that can top a summer evening with the windows open and the breeze drifting in.

I'm almost finished with the guitar hero scarf. After that... On to the aviator cap, I guess! Same guy has commissioned some weird badge things to go with his cosplay costume. We'll see how much I can get done before the deadline shipping date. Eventually I'll make a listing on etsy for custom guitar hero scarves, now that I've sorted out how best to make them; I won't do the same song twice, so each one is truly unique. The one I'm finishing up is "Hotel California."

I swear. I feel like I can't take a crystal clear photo for the life of me. I don't know if it's me (probably) or if there's something weird going on with my camera, but damn. =(

Kinda tired, today; I think I might end up taking a nap, if I can manage it. I had to start that scarf over again; I'm just doing it in garter stitch this time. Garter stitch drapes weirdly.
